Before I get into talking about our new “Underground Sound” fall concert series, I wanted to send out a quick thank you to all who attended one of our summer concerts. It was a terrific season of incredible artists and sold-out shows, with an overwhelming audience response, not only in terms of attendance, but also from the comments we have received from all sources.
I also want to thank all of our donors and underwriters, without whose support none of this would be possible. We are truly fortunate to have such a generous group of donors who believe in the value of the performing arts in the day-to-day life of a community.
Yesterday, we launched the new “Underground Sound” series. We are tagging the series “Love for the Locals,” with the intent being to provide truly special concert opportunities during the fall when there is typically a lot less going on around the valley than during the winter and summer seasons. The focus is on great music at a great price.
The Vilar Center is known for presenting big name artists in an intimate venue, but with the opportunity to see performers like The Black Crowes, B.B. King and Herbie Hancock usually comes a higher ticket price. We want to remind the community that you can also see great artists at the Vilar with ticket prices that are much more affordable for every wallet. With that in mind single tickets for the “Underground Sound” series will range from $15 to $30.

For the best pricing and the opportunity to enjoy the entire series, we are offering The Underground Access Pass for $98. The pass includes all seven shows plus a free drink at each performance. Can’t make it to all seven? The pass is transferable, so share it with a friend or two. Passes are on sale now through Sept. 19.
You will be familiar with some of the artists like Martin Sexton and Colin Hay from Men at Work, along with Colorado favorites Elephant Revival. While you may not know all the artists in the series, I promise they are all very talented musicians and songwriters.
You will be hearing more about the series and all of the artists in the coming weeks and months but for now, the best way to find out more is to go online to http://www.vilarpac.org and check out the “Underground Sound” page where you can listen to the music, watch videos and link to the artists’ websites.
We are very excited to launch this new series and I know that once you check out these artists, I feel confident you will be downloading their music and adding them to your list of favorites.
