Greeley mayor says he hopes Greeley Tribune closes
GREELEY, Colorado ” The mayor of Greeley says he hopes his hometown newspaper closes.
Mayor Ed Clark made his comments about the Greeley Tribune in an interview on KFKA-AM Thursday after he was asked about the newspaper’s coverage and editorials that have been critical of his leadership.
Clark said he wouldn’t run for re-election, then said: “I’m not leaving Greeley. I love this town, and I only want the best for Greeley, and, uh, I only want the worst for the Tribune. I hope they fold.”
Clark said the newspaper is “probably one of the biggest detractors from our community.”
The Tribune declined to comment. It employs about 140 people in Greeley in advertising, production, news and circulation.
