VAIL VILLAGE — Although your armoire may be abundant with a bedrock of hypermarket styles and brands, you might want to augment your wardrobe with a few sought-after pieces this winter and shop Vail Village’s newest men’s boutique, Grey Salt Men’s Supply Co.

Located upstairs from Skipper & Scout in Solaris Plaza, Grey Salt opened Dec. 15, and its sartorial fashions are geared toward the contemporary man who “has arrived.”

“Think of Grey Salt as the men’s version of Perch,” said co-owner Laurie O’Connell. “The Grey Salt man can be an out-of-towner or local who appreciates clothing and recognizes that dressing well is a part of his lifestyle. It’s for the guy that wants to upgrade his hoodie collection.”

Grey Salt is not about sporting the custom look; it is about a style that fits within your daily routine.

“Menswear in general is moving in the direction of accessible clothing that can be worn to the office, to dinner and to your child’s fourth-grade school play,” O’Connell said. “Our Perch and Skipper & Scout customers had been asking us for some time when we were going to open a men’s store, and now is the perfect time for us to do it.”

Grey Salt fuses together the creativity and the distinct experience customers get when shopping at Perch and Skipper & Scout but with a man’s perspective. With a variety of fresh and desired brands, Grey Salt blends home life, travel and business, making it easy for men to stock their closets.

The store will feature coveted and exclusive to the Vail Valley brands, including Rag & Bone, Vince, Theory, Frame Denim, DL 1961, Hudson, Paige Denim, Johnny O, Relwen, Vineyard Vines, Outerknown by Kelly Slater, Filson, Graph & Lanz, Peter Millar, Add, Faherty Brand, Culturata, Alex Mill, 360 Skull Cashmere, Red Wing Boots, Adidas, Mountain Khakis and Tailor Vintage, with prices ranging from $50 to $500.

“It’s not about having 12 suits in your closet. It’s about crisp shirts and jeans,” said Stacey Sapp, co-owner of Grey Salt. “Guys are not sport-shoppers like their wives, and Grey Salt is a place where men can put together their style and wardrobe easily without all the drama.”

Featuring a leisure vibe, the Grey Salt store exhibits a nonconformist atmosphere, with Bo Bridges Photography, Arrioni Woods floors and reclaimed wood paneling on the walls. In addition, customers will be comfortable relaxing in the boutique’s lounge chairs or hanging out on the barstools.

Customers are invited to enjoy the stress-free, unintimidating environment, as savvy style associates not only offer their fashion expertise, but also a beverage while you shop. Background entertainment such as an NFL game, Warren Miller film or Surf Competition on the store’s flat-screen TV adds to the effortless ambiance.

Perch (opened in 2012), Skipper & Scout (opened in 2014) and Grey Salt all cater to both locals and second-home owners. All three stores offer a personalized shopping experience, where customers can receive a customized, curated box of clothing based on style and size preferences. Sales associates will send you the latest trends and styles directly to your home monthly or quarterly, so you don’t miss out on what is arriving in the stores.

“Our retail merchandising and marketing strategies fill a huge hole in the marketplace,” O’Connell. said “We provide a shopping experience that is interactive, where you can find clothing for every occasion, every adventure and every day.”
