DENVER, Colorado- Some prominent Hispanic leaders have endorsed Colorado Democratic Gov. Bill Ritter for a second term.

The endorsements, announced Tuesday, came from a group that includes state Sens. Abel Tapia and Paula Sandoval, former state Sens. Polly Baca and Paul Sandoval and former House Speaker Ruben Valdez. All are Democrats.

They cited Ritter’s commitment to Colorado’s diverse population, to reforming Colorado education and to creating jobs and strengthening the economy.

Two Republicans are seeking their party’s nomination to oppose Ritter next year: Evergreen businessman Dan Maes and former congressman Scott McInnis.
