VAIL, Colo. – A limited number of guaranteed tickets will be available Friday for Darius Rucker’s July 8 fundraising concert for the Steadman Philippon Research Institute at Vail’s Ford Amphitheater.

The tickets cost $40 with $38 going directly to fund the institute’s research.

“We had an overwhelming response for tickets to Darius Rucker’s special performance,” said Sheri Wharton, the institute’s director of special events.

Free tickets for lawn seating will be available on July 6 at 11 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.

Rucker, former lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish, is a former patient of Dr. Richard Steadman’s and agreed to do the special performance. Tickets to attend the entire fundraising event, “History in the Making,” cost $225 and include special VIP seating, dinner at Larkspur restaurant and a live and silent auction. All proceeds from these tickets go to the institute for research and education in the areas of arthritis, healing, rehabilitation and injury.
