VAIL — Yoga instructor Georgia Gerstein returns to the Vail Vitality Center on Saturday, Feb. 27, for a 90-minute Rocket Flow yoga class. Rocket is a vinyasa flow based on ashtanga sequences, minus the stops. The sequence pulls postures from second, third and fourth series, and the flow emphasizes arm balances, inversions and weightless transitions.

“Rocket Flow really appeals to mountain yogis because it is so dynamic, creative and challenging but fun — kind of like being on the hill,” said Julia Clarke, the director of the Vail Vitality Center’s yoga program.

This will be Gerstein’s second year in a row teaching this special class, which Clarke calls “really fun and upbeat,” appealing to both athletes and vinyasa-loving guests.

“Students can expect to be introduced to some poses and transitions they’ve never tried before within a fluid-paced, vinyasa-style class,” Clarke said. “What I really appreciate about Georgia’s style is how she adequately prepares us for each of these and holds space for a mixed-levels class and everyone gets to move through their own process. Plus, she’s hilarious.”

Gerstein is an experienced registered yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance and has taught more than 3,000 classes. Ranked by Washingtonian Magazine as Best Yoga Instructor in the Washington area in 2013, Gerstein guides beginners into poses, focuses on alignment and assists advanced practitioners with a wide array of arm balances, transitions and inversions. When she is not practicing or teaching yoga, she likes to stand-up paddleboard and ski.

All levels are welcome, and there are modifications and amplifications for everyone. The class is $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers. Reserve a spot by calling 970-476-7960.
