Gypsum Cross Fit gym doubles its space
Vail, CO Colorado
GYPSUM, Colorado – Thanks to increasing demand, High Altitude Cross Fit Gym, located in Gypsum next to Costco, has recently doubled its space.
High Altitude Cross Fit opened in April, 2010 with 25 founding members. Membership now numbers more than 75, and new programs are in the works. The facility recently launched two children’s programs, one for four- to nine-year-olds and one for 10- to 14-year-olds,
Cross Fit is the primary strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists and other of elite and professional athletes.
Members often say the adrenaline and secretive nature of the daily workouts make it “addictive” and that the personal coaching in every class is better than having a one-on-one personal trainer. With moves like the jerk, the snatch and the power clean, loud music and friendly camaraderie, owner Jake Wheeler said it is an atmosphere that breeds results.
“You cannot stereotype an athlete by the way they look when they walk through the door – I get a rush seeing people progress and take their own strength higher,” Wheeler said.
