Gypsum library evacuated

GYPSUM, Colorado ” Sheriff’s deputies evacuated the Gypsum library and locked down the Gypsum Recreation Center for 45 minutes Monday evening after receiving a report of a suicidal man in the library.

Shortly before 6:45 p.m., a man told a librarian he was looking for his friend who was believed to be suicidal, the Eagle County’s Sheriff’s Office said.

The man’s friend was later identified as Jose Varela Orozco, age 32, of Las Vegas, Nev., the Eagle County’s Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were unable to locate Orozco and are still looking for him.

Orozco is wanted on three Eagle County warrants for menacing use of a deadly weapon, domestic violence and harassment, the Eagle County’s Sheriff’s Office said.

These warrants stemmed from an incident that occurred before Orozco went to the library, the Eagle County’s Sheriff’s Office said.
