Gypsum school parties for reading

Vail Daily staff report
Special to the Vail Daily(Left to Right) Malorie Stephens, Natalia Erickson, James Erickson, Maia Erickson, Kylie Martin and Blake Martin camp out in a tent set up in one of the classrooms at Gypsum Elementary School. The students gave Kylie light from their flashlights so she would be able to read them a story.

Gypsum Elementary School’s annual Literacy Night had a rain forest theme this year. More than 500 parents and students participated in events and activities run by fifth grade students.

Each student was able to participate in an event depending on the amount of tickets they earned during the third trimester by reading. The fourth grade students spent the evening fund raising to purchase trees for the rain forest and help adopt an animal from the rain forest.
