Gypsum’s Anderson Camp closed temporarily
Vail, CO Colorado
DOTSERO, Colorado – Anderson Western Colorado Camps is going through some construction and other changes and will be closed until next year.
The summer camp for kids 7 to 17 years old is on the Colorado River Road near the confluence of the Colorado River and Sweetwater Creek in Gypsum. It has operated since 1962.
“We won’t be operating this year, but we’re not going anywhere,” said Scott Stuart, whose family owns the camp.
Stuart said construction at the camp has repeatedly severed phone lines, which is why it’s been hard to contact the camp through the number listed on its website.
“We’re revamping our program and we’ll be registering for (summer 2014) by this winter,” Stuart said.
“I was a camper here in the ’60s,” he added.
Stuart said it was too soon to discuss any changes to the program.
