Gypsy Boutique provides hip women’s fashions
What goods and services do you provide and what product lines or services to you offer? Hip new women’s fashions, accessories, jewelry, gifts and Planet Earth sweaters. What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition? We provide a unique collection of fashions and accessories from small companies, most of which are not found in department or mall stores. Our excellent staff helps our customer find what best works for her. Because we carry not only clothing, but jackets, scarves, belts, jewelry and the hottest new items, ponchos, shrugs and capes, the client is able to put together whole outfits and usually does not need to look elsewhere for the perfect finishing touch.
We also help to find those new items to update what is already in your closet at home. For our visitors who want to take home something from Vail, we carry our own Planet Earth sweaters, based right here in the valley. We also do special orders. What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers?
We emphasize friendliness and customer service. Typical of my staff is the manager of Gypsy Boutique, longtime local Celine Martinez. For 18 years, she was assistant manager of Cabbages and Kings and has a large following of locals and visitors.Tell us a little about your background and experience:I began managing and buying for the Rucksack in 1975, went on to manage and buy for the General Store in Lionshead as well, and then in 1984 took over managing Cabbages and Kings.I also have designed and produced sweaters, ponchos and accessories in South America and China with my company, Planet Earth Imports, since 1972.
For the last 12 years I have owned and bought for the Laughing Monkey In Vail Village, which is a women’s fashion boutique. What led you to start the business here?I think Riverwalk in Edwards has a huge potential to be a great destination shopping area due to so many individually owned and unique shops that appeal to our great local clientele as well as providing an excellent and different shopping experience than is found in Beaver Creek or Vail. With so many small shops concentrated in one area, along with some truly great restaurants, it can be a fun day for locals and tourists alike to shop and dine.Vail, Colorado
