Half pipe grand opening at Edwards skatepark
EDWARDS, Colorado – An event to celebrate the opening of a new halfpipe at the Eagle County skatepark at Freedom Park in Edwards is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday. The celebration will include a free barbecue, giveaways from local skate shops, music and a raffle. Grindline Skateparks, Inc., constructed the new features at the skatepark, which will accommodate all levels of skaters. Contributors to the project include Eagle County, Western Eagle County Metropolitan Recreation District, Berry Creek Metropolitan District, Edwards Metropolitan District, Arrowhead Metropolitan District and the Edwards Rotary Club. Private contributions were also made via the sale of pavers, which have been incorporated into the deck of the main skatepark area. In-kind donations were made by Rick Cook, Eagle County Road & Bridge and Rocky Mountain Reprographics.The skatepark first opened in 2005 and is open to skateboarding, biking and rollerblading.
