Halloween events are going on for over a week in the Vail Valley

Morning, noon and night there are fun Halloween events happening for all ages

The Halloween spirit is alive and well in Eagle County, so much so that the events span well over a week with many events taking place already. Whether you want to carve a pumpkin, dress to impress and hopefully earn a prize or just want to get candy, here’s a list of what you can do up and down valley to get spooked. This is a partial list, if you are curious whether your favorite bar, restaurant or business is hosting an event, inquire with them about it. You can also search the Vail Daily Events Calendar online and in print for additional offerings.  

Saturday, Oct. 26

The Avon Spooktacular Plunge for Special Olympics Colorado starts from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with registration and check-in followed by the plunge into Nottingham Lake in Avon at 11 a.m. All funds raised from the Polar Plunge Series supports the sports, health, educational and athlete leadership programs that Special Olympics Colorado athletes enjoy for free. Bravo! Vail is celebrating Music Education Month throughout October and will be hosting Spooky Story Hour 10 a.m. at The Bookworm in Edwards. Learn how to tell time in English and Spanish at a spooktacular story hour featuring English and Spanish readings of “¡Es la hora de los esqueletos! / It’s Skeleton Time!”and special musical performances by Music Makers Haciendo Música students. This special story hour is costume friendly and is for ages 2-7 years old. Admission is free, but reservations are required at BravoVail.org.



Mountain Valley Horse Rescue is hosting Trick or Trot from noon to 2 p.m. There will be a Horse Corral Scavenger Hunt where you can find treats around the ranch. Bring the whole family, dress in your favorite costume, the horses may be dressed up, too! Spots are limited, so please RSVP at MountainValleyHorseRescue.com. The event is free but there is a suggested donation of $5 per person/$20 per family.

Alpine Arts Center is hosting an all-ages Pumpkin Carving Party from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Bring your own pumpkin and they will provide tools and templates to help you create your own jack-o-lantern. Candy and “boos” will be on hand. The Art Bar will be open and beer, wine and champagne will be for sale. Register at AlpineArtsCenter.org.

Parents Night Out Eagle Pool & Ice Rink in Eagle Ranch invites children grades kindergarten through eighth grade to dress up in your favorite costume and be ready to skate, play games, do crafts and more from 6 to 8 p.m. $25 per child also includes dinner, skate fees and skate rentals. Fright at the Museum — Walking Mountains becomes your Halloween headquarters from noon to 4 at the campus in Avon. This year’s theme is Science Goes Medieval and there will be 15 different Medieval-themed activity stations along with hands-on science experiments, haunted trails, face painting, a bounce house and more. Costumes encouraged but not required. Tickets are $20 per person and kids 3 and younger are free. For tickets and parking information, go to WalkingMountains.org.

The Trunk-or-Treat event at Trinity Church offers games, costumes, chili and more from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church in Edwards. Email info@trinityvailvalley.org for more information.

The Pumpkin Carving Contest at R Farmers Market in Avon will be held at 3 p.m. Your design could win you up to $1,000 in R Farmers Market gift cards.

Minturn Saloon Halloween Party will be held Saturday. The iconic restaurant and bar will once again host its famous Halloween Party with music by The Johnny Schleper Band featuring Joe Bianchi, Jeff Armistead, Brian Loftus and Bob Masters. The $35 ticket gets you entry at 7 p.m., appetizers from 7:15-8:15 p.m. and music from 9 p.m. until midnight. There will also be a costume contest and special prizes given out during the evening. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Minturn Community Fund’s Neighbors in Need program. Check out their Instagram page for more information.

Sunday, Oct. 27

Vintage in Vail Village is hosting three spooky drag shows at 9:30 and 11:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. A $25 per person donation for each reservation will be added to the bill to benefit Mountain Pride. Visit Vintage-Vail.com to make reservations or go through OpenTable.

The Second Annual Kids Halloween Dance at United Methodist Church of Eagle Valley will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in Eagle and provides fun for kids ages 2-11 years old. Come to the spooky basement for food, games, music and dancing in the black light dance hall. Bring your carved pumpkin to enter the contest for best jack-o-lantern. Parents can drop off kids or stay for the fun. Go to their Facebook events page to learn more.

Monday, Oct. 28

Trick-or-Treat in Edwards — Walk the corners of Edwards and do some trick-or-treating. Edwards Corner and Edwards Village Center’s shops and eateries invite you to show off your costume and do some trick-or-treating from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 29  

Athletic Club at Westin: “Thriller” Hip Hop Dance — Led by Shannon Lund, get ready to dance at this special October hip hop dance class themed around Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” Get your dance on and learn some new moves with the zombie groove and compete for a prize for the best costume, all while enjoying a high-energy class. Classes are open to the public and free to attend, with a suggested donation to the Vail Valley Charitable Fund: The Breast Cancer Group. For more information, please visit SpaAnjali.com/Events.

Wednesday, Oct. 30

Head to Capitol Street in Eagle Ranch on Wednesday for spooky DJ tunes, trick-or-treating and the annual “Thriller” flash mob dance.

Trick-or-Treat Street in Eagle Ranch — Eagle Ranch will come alive with Halloween activities from 5-7 p.m. DJ tunes will be spinning in front of Capitol Theater and the “Thriller” mob will perform. Visit Thrill The World Eagle’s Facebook page to find out how you can participate in the flash mob dance and get more details about the event at EagleOutside.com.

Minturn always celebrates Halloween Eve with trick-or-treating and fun photo ops happening on the day before Oct. 31. Head to Minturn Town Hall on Wednesday from 5-7 or until the candy runs out. Also, on Wednesday, The Saloon will also be open for dinner service from 5 to 9 p.m. (please note that the restaurant’s big Halloween Bash is on Oct. 26). Minturn.org.

Thursday, Oct. 31

The 32nd Annual Trick-or-Treat Trot happens in Vail and Lionshead Village on Oct. 31.

32nd annual Trick-or-Treat Trot will be held from 2-5 p.m. in Vail and Lionshead Village for infants up to 10 years old. Participating merchants will have an orange jack-o-lantern leaf bag outside their front door. El Segundo is hosting a Halloween Bash from 8 p.m. to midnight with DJ Stennor. A costume contest could earn the winner $1,000, and other prizes and giveaways will be up for grabs. This event is for those 21 years of age and older, and there is a $25 cover charge and costumes are required.

Agave Halloween Party will feature music by Sublime tribute band, 40-oz. to Freedom. The event goes from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. there is a $500 cash purse for best costume. AgaveAvon.com.

Friday, Nov. 1

Vail Valley Theatre Company will again perform “Villians Anonymous” at 7 p.m. at the EagleVail Pavilion.

Minturn is hosting its First Fridays event with a Day of the Dead theme at the Mexican Bar and Grill from 5-7 p.m. There will be an Altar De Muertos Exhibition that explores the Mexican tradition of honoring the dead. Free chips and salsa from 5-7 p.m. and attendees will get two drink tickets for either a house margarita or a draft beer. There will also be $13 dinner specials and $9 appetizer specials.

Saturday, Nov. 2

Vail Valley Theatre Company’s final performance of “Villians Anonymous” will be at 7 p.m. at the EagleVail Pavilion.

The Runaway Grooms are keeping the party going with a Halloween bash at Shakedown Bar Vail on the Saturday after Halloween. It’s an Elvis-themed Halloween party, decide which era Elvis you want to be and don the sideburns, sequins and swagger and get ready dance the night away.
