Hanging Lake Trail in Glenwood Canyon to close June 4-9 for trail work

Daily staff report

GARFIELD COUNTY — Hanging Lake Trail and the Hanging Lake exit 125 off of Interstate 70 will be closed at midnight, June 4 until midnight, June 9. This is a temporary closure for trail work. The trail will be closed for public safety reasons while the work takes place.

Rocky Mountain Youth Corps crews will work with U.S. Forest Service personnel to remove hazard trees along the trail, build additional rock steps up to the Spouting Rock waterfall and construct barriers to protect the historic resources mid-way up the trail.

“We are asking the public to please respect the temporary closure so the crews can get in and conduct some much needed work ahead of what we expect to be another busy season at Hanging Lake,” District Ranger Aaron Mayville said. “The temporary closure gives the crews the space they need to accomplish this critical trail work safely.”

For more information about the management of Hanging Lake, call the Eagle-Holy Cross Office, 970-827-5715, or stop by the office in Minturn during business hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. — 4:30 p.m.
