Happy New Year from the Vail Chamber!
I hope you had a great New Years Eve and didn’t over-indulge. I kept New Year’s low key at my house. I’ve “been there, done that,” so no need to do it again.Another decade is starting as another ends, and I have to admit, the recap of the past decade in this paper was an interesting read. Yes, there have been some good times and some not so good. We all have our own take on 2010, so there’s no need for me to bore you with my recap. This also goes for New Years resolutions – I’m not going to make any. If you make New Years Resolutions, I wish you all the best and hope you stick with it.As a new year starts, so does one of the Vail Chamber & Business Association’s many programs. This week marks the beginning of the annual Premier Impressions program. Premier Impressions is now in its sixth year and is sponsored again by Vail Resorts, the town of Vail and the Vail Chamber & Business Association. Premier Impressions recognizes employees who offer great customer service. It’s our opinion that great customer service is what creates the great memories for guests and locals alike while in Vail. That is why Premier Impressions rewards employees for going above and beyond what is traditionally expected. Last year Premier Impressions recognized more than 200 nominees. Hopefully this year we will honor even more. The way the program works is that anyone – local or guest – can nominate any employee in Vail for superior customer service. The forms are available at stores and places of business throughout Vail. Fill out the form and return it to the Vail Chamber’s office. Each month we process the forms and reward all nominees with gift cards and gift certificates to local businesses. Those honored through the season will be recognized in print each month in the Vail Daily. In April, each nominee and a guest are invited to an end-of-season party at Eagles Nest. Each nominee is entered into a drawing for prizes including trips, cash, skis and more. So my challenge to you is to go out and offer great customer service – maybe you’ll be our next nominee!
