Harmonic post-holiday jam
James Raymond was playing the keyboard and composing songs years before discovering musical heavy-hitter David Crosby was his father. That reunion eventually led to CPR – Crosby, Jeff Pevar and Raymond. Pevar and Raymond will be performing at the Half Moon Saloon in West Vail tonight at 10.”They blew me away when I saw them in Boulder,” said Justin Hurley, who booked the duo despite the fact they’re not well known. “I was amazed at their harmonies.”Raymond and Crosby began writing and performing together soon after they met for the first time. Pevar joined them almost immediately. The Aspen musician is a guitarist, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. David Crosby has often been quoted as saying, “Jeff Pevar is one of the best guitarists out there and he’s my personal favorite.”He’s worked, toured and recorded with a multitude of people, including Ray Charles, James Taylor, Rickie Lee Jones, Joe Cocker, Chaka Khan, Shawn Colvin, Jackson Browne – the list goes on and on. He can dish out R&B, jazz, blues, rock, bluegrass and jam jam jam.Early days found Raymond playing and touring with various R&B and jazz recording artists, including Take 6, Tom Scott and eventually The Spice Girls. Raymond is responsible for most of the music CPR sings, as well as a smorgasbord of television themes and songs.Raymond and Pevar will appear with Little Blue, who appeared at the Vilar Center with John Oates last Thursday.
