EAGLE COUNTY — Keller Williams, the largest real estate franchise in North America, has announced that Joan Harned has been appointed operating principal for Keller Williams Mountain Properties in the Vail Valley.

Harned has been a successful luxury, as well as ranch broker in the Vail Valley for 29 years, and as a partner in Eagle-based Black Bear Realty, was one of the original investors who brought the Keller Williams franchise to Eagle County 10 years ago.

Harned has served as both a director and the chairman of the Vail Board of Realtors. That group in the past honored her with its Realtor of the Year designation.

Harned said she is excited about this new position, which allows her to continue to sell with Team Black Bear but provides the opportunity for her to have a direct say in the direction and future of the valley-wide operation. With more than 100,000 agents, Keller Williams is working on becoming the biggest real estate franchise in the world, with offices now in Austria, Germany, Indonesia, South Africa, Switzerland, Turkey, the U.K., Dubai, Mexico and South America.
