Vail Daily Town Talk: Harry Potter party

Vail Public Library is hosting a Harry Potter party on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. There will two separate parties — one for children ages 7 to 12 and another party for teens. All attendees will first travel through Diagon Alley where they can create their own wand at Olivander’s Wands and play Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit at Flourish & Blotts. Feeling a bit more like a potion’s master? Step into the Apothecary and you’ll be able to create slime even Professor Snape would be proud of. Next, attendees will go to Hogwarts, where the Sorting Hat will sort them into Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Slytherin or Hufflepuff houses. After the sorting, attendees can participate in a game of quidditch on the library lawn if the weather is good or indoors in the community room. Either way, now is the time to brush up on your Wingardium Leviosa-ing with pingpong balls and your dodging bludgers ability (The library promises Dobby’s rogue bludger won’t come near either pitch.). Teens will be able to use the 3-D printer to make Deathly Hallows symbols. Parrticipants are encouraged, but not required, to dress up as their favorite character from the Harry Potter series. The partners are under contract with Union Pacific Railroad for the property, which is across Minturn Road — also known as County Road.
