Hay at play in Beaver Creek
BEAVER CREEK – Former Men at Work front man, Colin Hay, will perform on Sunday night at the Vilar Center for the Arts in Beaver Creek. The multi-platinum selling group, Men at Work skyrocketed to global popularity in the early 1980’s when several of their releases hit number one. They were best known for their quirky lead vocalist, upbeat lyrics and humorous videos that jammed the airways of the only existing music channel of the time, MTV. Men at Work’s biggest hits are “Be Good Johnny,” “Down Under,” “Who Can It Be Now” and “Overkill” which Hay sang recently on an episode of NBC’s medical comedy TV show, “Scrubs.”Hay’s Man at Work tour will feature not only all the band’s greatest hits, but also some new works and lots of backstage stories of being a rock star in the 80’s. “We’ve heard tremendous things about this show,” says the Vilar Center’s Kris Sabel. “He performed at a singer/songwriters’ conference in LA a few weeks ago and the audience wouldn’t let him off the stage.”Tickets are $36.
