Heating help starts Saturday in Eagle County
EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado A program that will help Eagle County, Colorado residents pay their energy bills this winter begins Saturday. The Low-income Energy Assistance Program runs through April 30 and will help low-income household with heating costs though it will not pay the entire bill. With the ever-increasing cost of heating, the program is one way to help households stretch their money, said Kathy Lyons, economic services manager for Eagle County Health & Human Services. Families with children, individuals with special needs and senior citizens are among the most vulnerable to excessive cold temperatures, Lyon said. Type of heat being used and number of people in the household are considered before an assistance is given. Applications may be picked up from Eagle County offices in Avon, Eagle and El Jebel. For more information, contact Eagle County Health & Human Services at (970)328-8840 or call Heat Help at 1-866-432-8435 to request an application by mail.
