Heavy chains fail to prevent theft in Gypsum

Eagle Valley Enterprise
Gypsum, CO Colorado

GYPSUM, Colorado –Logging chains weren’t enough to keep thieves from stealing valuable equipment from a Gypsum construction site.

A contractor working on a project on Bridger Drive reported that before leaving for the night on Sept. 1, his crews used two, 10-foot logging chains to secure a couple of air compressors and a gas-powered electric generator. The next morning, however, the equipment and the logging chains were all gone.

Because work crews arrived on the site before an investigating deputy arrived, the tire tracks and the shoe prints of the thieves were not in good shape. Some roofers working on the site did report observing a blue pick up truck driving by slowly.

The contractor is out about $2,000 worth of equipment. The case remains under investigation.
