Heavy snow expected in Vail Valley
Vail, CO Colorado
VAIL, Colorado ” Skiers and snowboarders can expect 8 to 14 inches of snow in the Vail Valley through Monday night and more snow throughout the week.
Some snow will begin to fall this afternoon, but most of it will fall Monday, said Jeff Colton, meteorologist for the National Weather Service.
The winter storm is moving slowly from the southern mountains ” expected to get one to two feet of snow ” toward northeast Colorado, Colton said.
Around 50-mile-per-hour winds at higher elevations, such as Vail Pass, are expected, he said. That will create limited visibility for travelers, he said.
Another storm will move in Tuesday night and could bring 6 to 12 inches of snow by Wednesday, he said.
The next storm is due Friday, though that one does not look as strong as the others, he said.
“It’s going to be a snowy week in the high country for sure,” he said.
