Heavy snow in Vail’s forecast for Sunday, Monday

VAIL — A winter storm is expected to bring significant amounts of snow to Vail starting Sunday.

The Vail area will be under winter storm warning from 6 a.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The National Weather Service is calling for 8 to 16 inches of snow.

Joel Gratz of opensnow.com is calling for 8 to 15 inches for Vail.

"The heaviest snow will should fall from Sunday afternoon through Monday night," Gratz said.

Expect difficult travel conditions with drifting snow and low visibility.
