Help plan Gypsum’s future

GYPSUM, Colorado ” Have some thoughts about the type of growth you’d like to see along the Eagle River corridor in Gypsum? The town will host an open house at Gypsum Town Hall from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 9 to collect citizen input on the issue.

The five-mile stretch of land along the Eagle River, between Highway 6 and Interstate 70, is a key piece of land that will undoubtedly see some new uses in the near future.

“A large amount of this property is still not annexed. We would like a better, more specific vision plan,” said Gypsum Town Planner Lana Gallegos, “We just want to get some input from the general public as to what they would, or would not, like to see out there.”

The town has budgeted about $83,000 for a master plan update, and has hired EDAW, a Front Range planning firm, to do the work. Gallegos said the consultants will use the citizen comment to create a draft plan, which will be brought back to the public for review.

“We hope to have the plan updated by January,” she said. Work on the plan has already been under way for a couple of months.

For more information, contact the town at (970)524-7514.
