Heuga Center gets grant for MS programs
EDWARDS – The Heuga Center, a national nonprofit organization based in Edwards, Colorado, recently was awarded a $25,000 grant from HealthONE Alliance to support its multiple sclerosis programs. The Heuga Center will use the money to support a five-day program in Vail, Oct. 9 through Oct. 11, and a one-day program in Denver in May. “This generous grant will help us transform the lives of many people and families facing the daily challenges of MS,” said Brian Hutchinson, president of The Heuga Center. “Our interactive educational programs give people specific strategies and teach them to live healthier, more fulfilling lives with their MS.”Multiple sclerosis, the most common neurological disease among young people, strikes one in 750 Americans between the ages of 20 and 50. In Colorado, the incidence of MS is 10 percent higher than in other parts of the country. There is no known cause or cure.
