High Altitude Society column: World Cup spotlights the ladies

Chef Kirk Weems of Allie’s Cabin on Beaver Creek Mountain and the Zach's Cabin men bring their A game to the Audi FIS World Cup. We are lucky to have them serving fine foods on our mountains this year. Allie’s Cabin is open to the public for dinner.

Girl power was strong on the Raptor Course during the Audi FIS World Cup this weekend. Hometown powerhouse Mikaela Shiffrin took second place on the podium for the giant slalom race on Sunday, causing a cacophony of praise and excitement in the stadium. The gear up for 2015 is evident as every detail looks polished and prepared. There is an army of volunteers smiling and making sure that everyone knows where they are going.

Special thanks goes out to the Beaver Creek Ski Patrol for their countless hours and dedication to the Audi FIS World Cup, which continues this weekend with the Birds of Prey races. We are so blessed to have these two incredible world-class events in the Vail Valley. Get out and support the races as we gear up for the 2015 World Cup Alpine Ski Championship races.
