High-energy bluegrass in Eagle Thursday night
July 21, 2010
EAGLE – The Vail Valley Foundation’s ShowDown Town free concert series welcomes lively, traditional bluegrass with Badly Bent. Showtime is 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Eagle Town Park.
Badly Bent is a Durango-based traditional bluegrass band with deep-seeded roots in both the genre and its community. Entrenched in the bluegrass music scene since 1997, the band has received many accolades and won many competitions including the Telluride Bluegrass Festival band competition. While their musical prowess allows them to push the boundaries of traditional music, Badly Bent never strays too far from the roots established by the fathers of bluegrass.
In addition to the free music, the family-friendly concert series also features a host of activities for the kids each week. Activities for this week include an interactive educational area presented by the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
At all concerts, picnics are welcome and several members of Eagle’s restaurant community are also on hand to sell food. Pack up the family, the lawn chairs and the coolers and get yourself to the Eagle Town Park every Thursday in July for the 2010 edition of ShowDown Town.
The ShowDown Town free concert series is a project of the Vail Valley Foundation. For additional information on ShowDown Town or the foundation, visit http://www.vvf.org.
