High-speed rail would stop in Vail
Vail, CO Colorado
VAIL, Colorado “-A coalition of local governments and businesses in the Interstate 70 mountain corridor has completed a draft transit and land-use study of possible high-speed rail service between the Front Range and Colorado’s Vail Valley.
The 118-page document lists possible rail stations in Idaho Springs; near Empire Junction or Georgetown; in Frisco or Silverthorne; Copper Mountain; Vail; and Eagle County Airport.
The $500,000 study will mesh with a more detailed high-speed-rail feasibility study being conducted by the Rocky Mountain Rail Authority. That review, with results due in July, is looking at whether advanced rail service in the I-70 mountain corridor is technically and financially feasible.
It would cost billions to build such a train.
