Highway 6 to close in Avon next week

DENVER, Colorado – A section of U.S. Highway 6 west of Avon will be fully closed to traffic from Friday through Sept. 15 for the Xcel pipeline project.
The closure will be-west of the Avon Road roundabout, from Prater Road/West Beaver Creek Boulevard west 2,200 feet to the Rivers Edge Condos at 37723 U.S. Highway 6.–
The intersection of West Beaver Creek Boulevard and the entrance into the Rivers Edge Condos will remain open. No through traffic will be allowed during six-day period. Traffic will be detoured west at West Beaver Creek Boulevard/Prater Road and east to Avon Road.
Electronic signs announcing the closure are in place. This will be a full closure, in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including the weekend.
Xcel Energy is replacing 7.8 miles of 6-inch, high-pressure natural gas line with 16-inch pipe.
