BUENA VISTA, Colorado – A hiker who spent two nights on Mount Princeton near Buena Vista, Colorado has been rescued with the help of the Colorado Army National Guard.

The Chaffee County sheriff’s office said 39-year-old Glyn Llewellyn was driven off the mountain Tuesday after being spotted by a National Guard high-altitude helicopter.

Lt. Joe McGuire said he apparently got lost after hiking the 14,000-foot peak Sunday but was walking when spotted by the helicopter crew. He wasn’t injured.

He was reported missing when he didn’t turn up at work Monday but the search was slowed because authorities were told he had planned to climb Mount Cameron. His vehicle was found near the Mount Princeton parking lot Tuesday morning. Searchers asked the Guard – in the area for a training mission – to help find him.
