Hikers find body on southwest Colorado trail
DURANGO, Colorado – Hikers have found a man’s body on a trail north of Durango, in the area where a man disappeared last fall.
The body was found Sunday about 45 minutes from a trailhead.
La Plata County emergency preparedness director Butch Knowlton says an autopsy is planned.
Knowlton says the victim’s name isn’t known, but the body was found along Cascade Creek, where crews were searching last October for 48-year-old Jeffery C. Kelley.
Authorities said at the time that Kelley had been living in the area but was last seen in September. Searchers found a campsite he used but there was no sign of Kelley.
