Hits & Misses
Send your hit or miss to Opinion Editor Tamara Miller at firstname.lastname@example.org.Hit: To Mother Nature, who finally saw fit to bring a little moisture our way. Vail received almost a foot of snow by Tuesday, and were expected to get more snow in the next few days. The ski season is coming to an end, but the good skiing and riding hasnt. Take advantage of it while you still can. Miss: To those Vail town officials who are so wrapped up with calculating the value of the windmill media coverage, that theyve failed to recognize that the public isnt quite as enthralled with the project. Was this expensive art experiment worth the cost? That remains to be seen. Hit: To the Colorado Division of Wildlife, the U.S. Forest Service and the Eagle River Watershed Council for their efforts to clean up the Eagle River. Biologists are finding older trout in the river, and thats a sign that the nearly 20-year cleanup effort is paying off. Miss: To the Rumpus Room for violating a five-day suspension for serving alcohol to minors. The owner has acknowledged that his establishment has served alcohol to minors, and then continued to serve alcohol on the first day of the bars suspension. The bar will now be closed for about a month, and lets hope the Rumpus Room will re-open as a much more responsible establishment. Hit: To all those who have helped Dawn Rothschild, a homeless woman, get back on her feet. Rothschild, who has received help from the Salvation Army, also has been offered a job at the Home Depot and temporary housing at a motel in Eagle.
