Send your hit or miss to Opinion Editor Tamara Miller at tmiller@vaildaily.com.Hit: And we hope were not jinxing anything here, to whatever has kept area wildfires few in number and small in size so far this year. Quick, efficient firefighting has kept those small wildfires from spreading. But its hot and dry, folks, so please continue to be careful. Miss: To the 25 or more bozos who couldnt celebrate the Avon fireworks display without breaking the law. Avon police made arrests for crimes ranging from domestic violence to possession of marijuana on July 3 during and after the Avon fireworks show, making it the busiest post-fireworks night the local cops have had. Hit: To the Forest Service for speeding up plans to deal with pine beetles. Harvesting those trees quickly can help the forest officials make money from the dead trees, and provide funds to keep the tree harvesting cycle going.Miss: To Eagle County officials for the delays that will likely prevent the Edwards spraypark from opening this summer. The water feature planned for Freedom Park is expected to cost $80,000 more than proposed and probably wont be up and running until next summer. In the meantime, this summer has been hot and kids need things to do.
