VAIL, Colorado – Get ready for another weekend of oom-pah-pah fun as Oktoberfest makes its way to Vail Village Friday through Sunday. This weekend’s schedule of events will emulate those offered in Lionshead Village with the exception of a headliner performance by local favorite Laughing Bones on Saturday evening and Oktoberfest’s Fun Run on Sunday morning. The German celebration kicks-off Friday at 5 p.m. Festival attendees will enjoy a wide array of German-inspired food and beverages, including Beck’s beer and Jagermister shots, as well as dance to the live music from Bavarian musicians, Rhinelanders Band and Helmut Fricker. “Helmut really got the crowds dancing in Lionshead Village last weekend,” said Missy Johnson of Highline Sports & Entertainment. “From the Chicken Dance to the Electric Slide, kids and adults alike were out enjoying the German tunes. I can’t wait to see the masses return for Oktoberfest in Vail Village, as Vail’s Oktoberfest is historically a hugely attended event!”Saturday’s festivities begin at noon at the Checkpoint Charlie’s concert venue with live music from the Rhinelanders Band and Helmut Fricker. In addition, a kid’s area with children’s entertainment and activities will be open from noon to 5 p.m.The annual Kement’s bratwurst-eating contest will begin promptly at 2 p.m., with the Beck’s keg bowling contest being held at 3:30 p.m. “The Klement’s bratwurst-eating contest and Beck’s keg-bowling champs are really fun events and crowd favorites,” said Johnson. “Over 70 people participated in these competitions last weekend and hundreds came out to watch and cheer on their friends and family.”Following the spirited competitions, the Austrian Duo will take center stage from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. And, to conclude the evening, local musicians Laughing Bones will perform a headliner concert. On Sunday the Oktoberfest Fun Run opens the final day of Vail Oktoberfest at 9 a.m. Benefiting the Children’s Garden of Learning, the Fun Run is a friendly competition for all ages.
