Holiday favorite brings marionettes back to Vilar Center

BEAVER CREEK – “The Nutcracker” is an enchanting marionette production performed by puppet master Jim Gamble to Tchaikovsky’s well-loved and timeless music. As the show unfolds, Herr Drosselmeier explains how he built a magical Christmas nutcracker for his niece Clara, and how on Christmas Eve, she dreamed of sugarplums and beautiful ballerinas. The Sugar Plum Fairy guides the audience through a fantasy puppet world of toy soldiers, Russian Cossack acrobats, Arabian dancers, Chinese dragons and even a Christmas tree that comes to life. The duel between the evil Rat King and the Nutcracker caps the show with a sparkling finale.Internationally recognized as an outstanding marionette artist, Jim Gamble has built and performed with puppets for over 35 years. Gamble has been honored by the Puppeteers of America with the President’s Award for Contributions to the Art of Puppetry. His 16-member troupe, Jim Gamble Puppet Productions, has entertained audiences around the world, from California to Oregon, Japan to Australia, Fiji to South America.
