Holiday season starts in Vail Friday

VAIL – The annual Holidays in Vail celebration gets underway Friday, a little earlier than usual. New this year is the addition of two weekends of a Holiday Fair, with gifts from artisans and craft vendors. On Friday and Saturday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. the fair will take place on Meadow Drive in the Village Inn Plaza. The second market is scheduled for Dec. 18 and 19 in Arrabelle Square in Lionshead from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Vail’s traditional tree lightings in Vail Village and Lionshead will take place on Saturday and will include a children’s parade along Meadow Drive. The event begins in Vail Village at 5:30 p.m. with the parade beginning at approximately 6:15 p.m., winding along Meadow Drive into Lionshead with the tree lighting at 7 p.m.The Vail Chamber presents “Savor the Season,” a holiday dining event that runs from Saturday through Dec. 18 throughout Vail. There are 28 restaurants participating.Children can visit with Santa & Friends each Wednesday in December from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in a different part of town. Santa’s dates are as follows:• Dec. 2: Lodge at Vail, gift wrapping at The Colorado Ski Museum• Dec. 9: Vail Plaza Hotel, gift wrapping at Kidsport• Dec. 16: Blue Moose, gift wrapping at General Store• Dec. 23: Holiday Inn, gift wrapping at Millennium BankVail Snowdaze is scheduled for Dec. 7 through 13. The event is free and open to the public. From 7:30 to 10 p.m., the Arrabelle at Vail Square will host Vail First Night Family Event with ice skating, children’s activities and entertainment.
