‘Holidays in Vail’ kicks off next week
The Vail Chamber & Business Association is proud to be part of “Holidays in Vail,” sponsored by the town of Vail. This years celebration has been expanded and includes many new and exciting events. Vail Village will kick off the festivities Nov. 28 with a Christmas tree lighting at Slifer Plaza. There will be holiday music, including performances by local choirs and Vail Mayor Dick Cleveland will light the tree. Afer Dick turns on the big light switch, a children’s parade, complete with decorated floats will wind from Vail Village along Meadow Drive to Lionshead for another tree lighting – with still more music and entertainment – near Billy’s Island Grill. Also starting Nov. 28 and continuing through Dec. 18, the Vail Chamber is coordinating “Savor the Season,” a new event featuring 24 restaurants and bars offering special holiday promotions including holiday-themed cocktails and discounts. The event is designed to entice locals, visitors and second home owners to come to Vail for lunch, apres ski and dinner at special prices before the holiday rush. Participating restaurants include: Billy’s Island Grill, Blu’s Restaurant, Bully Ranch, Fitz Lounge at Manor Vail, King’s Club at the Sonnenalp, La Tour, Lord Gore Restaurant, Ludwig’s, Marketplace on Meadow Drive, Ore House Restaurant, Pepi’s, Restaurant Kelly Liken, Rimini Gelato, Sandbar Sports Grill, Sapphire Restaurant and Oyster Bar, Swiss Chalet, Terra Bistro, The George, The Tap Room, Up the Creek, Vail Blue Moose, Vail Chophouse, Vendetta’s and Xpresso Drive Thru Cafe in West Vail. As we move into December, the Vail Chamber and the Vail Recreation District are teaming up to present “Santa & Friends,” another new event. Santa will host four free workshops in various locations on Wednesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. throughout December. Each workshop gives children the opportunity to visit with Santa and have their photo taken with him. Arts and crafts include making tree ornaments, decorative bracelets, a 2009 picture frame for their Santa photo and special Christmas cards to be sent to children in need. Santa’s Workshops will take place on Dec. 2 at the Lodge at Vail, Dec. 9 at the Vail Plaza Hotel, Dec. 16 at the Vail Blue Moose and Dec. 23 at the Holiday Inn in West Vail. Scheduled the same days as Santa’s workshops and in various locations throughout Vail, the Vail Chamber is also organizing a free gift wrapping event for everyone buying gifts in Vail. You must present a receipt to be eligible for the free gift wrapping. Local non-profits have volunteered their time for this amd all proceeds will go to the participating groups.
