Homes, offices, shops envisioned in Gypsum
Gypsum, CO Colorado
GYPSUM, Colorado ” A new plan is looking to the future of Gypsum, Colorado.
The current draft of the “Eagle River Corridor Vision Statement” calls for new residential neighborhoods with different types of homes, commercial centers, offices, riverfront shops and restaurants, gathering spaces, a hotel, bike trails, a park, a kayak course, more fishing areas and increased access to the river.
Preserving the rural character of the Eagle River area with farms and ranches is also outlined in the draft.
EDAW Inc. ” a planning firm out of Fort Collins ” planning commission members, residents, and town staff created the plan.
The vision statement is an update to a section of the 1999 Gypsum Foundation Plan for the Eagle River Corridor. Gypsum wanted to update the existing master plan for the area.
“This area is extremely important and strategically located because of the proximity to the Eagle River, visibility from both Highway 6 and I-70, impacts to wildlife, recreation potential, etc.,” said Lana Gallegos, Gypsum senior planner. “We wanted to specifically update this section of the plan to more closely define the outcome and expectations of this area.”
The updated plan will be reviewed by Town Council members at their Tuesday meeting.
