Vail CO, Colorado

VAIL, Colorado”Every trek to the mountain traditionally begins and ends with a stop at base camp.

From February 8-10, the Honda Base Camp will be that stop, providing the perfect interactive hangout for riders and spectators alike as the 2008 Honda Session, presented by GameStop, brings some of the best snowboarders on the planet to the Vail Valley for an action-packed weekend of big air and incredible tricks.

Located directly adjacent to the Honda Session Stadium at the base of Vail Mountain’s Golden Peak, the Honda Base Camp will consist of a trio of tents, featuring a smorgasbord of games, music, product sampling and board waxing, not to mention food and beverage.

The epicenter of Base Camp will be the GameStop Lounge, filled with enough free video gaming options to satisfy anyone’s cravings. Multiple consoles and games, including Guitar Hero III will be available to Honda Base Campers, while gamers can also get a sneak preview of the new Bourne Conspiracy game.

In addition, the GameStop Lounge will serve as the launching pad for the new Big Air Gaming League, while players can also register to win exciting giveaways, including a custom designed Phoenix 160 snowboard.

The 2008 encampment will include a satellite television feed, live DJ, free ski and board waxing and free hot chocolate and s’mores.

The Honda Base Camp will also be the venue for the free two-set concert on Saturday, February 9, featuring local favorites M.T.H.D.S. The first set will get underway at 5 p.m., with the second set on tap for 8:15 p.m., following the Bud Light Slopestyle awards.

“The Honda Base Camp is the perfect place to hang, before, during or after the competition,” offered Ceil Folz, president of the Vail Valley Foundation.

Honda Base Camp hours of operation will be noon to 9 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, February 8-9, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 10.

In addition to the Honda Base Camp, be sure to check out the Honda display cars throughout Vail Village and Lionshead.

The 2008 Honda Session, presented by GameStop, is a project of the Vail Valley Foundation.
