Horse shot in head, left to die near Parachute
The Denver Post
Someone shot a horse in the head and left the animal to die in Garfield County pasture between Parachute and Rifle.
Garfield County dispatchers received a call Monday about an “injured” horse near the Rulison exit on the north side of I-70 near a gas well pad, according to a media release from the sheriff’s office.
Deputies called a veterinarian and a brand inspector to the scene.
Investigators found tire tracks from “what appeared to be a truck and trailer,” in the area.
“It appears the horse was unloaded and shot, with what looks like a small caliber gun,” the release said.
