Human skull found in Front Range creek
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado ” A coroner says a human skull found in El Paso County appears to be that of an adult, and shows no signs of trauma.
It was the second human bone found in the Fountain Creek area within a week.
A hiker discovered the skull in the water while walking near the creek Saturday. It’s unclear whether the skull, and an adult human femur found on the creek’s banks May 10th, came from the same person.
El Paso Coroner Dr. Robert Bux says it’s unlikely that DNA can be extracted from the femur or the skull, but says delays at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation could mean it’ll take at least a year to know for certain.
Bux says the skull has been in the water, which can cause deterioration.
