Hush takes flight with Avondale in Avon
August 7, 2010
AVON, Colorado – Hush Denver is Colorado’s first ‘traveling’ dining event, juxtaposing four star cuisine from top-rising chefs with a dining experience that is anything but ordinary. Out with the four walls, white tablecloths and celebrity chefs; in with cutting-edge gastronomy, out-of-this-world venues, electric atmosphere and an experience you’ll never forget. Hush redefines your notion of dining out.On Aug. 19, Hush Denver will host its first Vail Valley event featuring Avondale Sous Chef Patrick Funk and the restaurant’s culinary team. Hush’s mantra is “eat outside the box,” and fittingly, the dinner will be held in a hangar housing private jets. “We find spots with unusual allure to create memorable events,” said Phil Armstrong, co-owner of Hush Denver. “The ‘take flight’ event will provide a sense of the jet-setter- from the urban-chic venue to the fine food and wines.”Armstrong’s business partner Chance Humphrey agreed. “We take dining to the next level – challenging the imagination and giving rising culinary talent a chance to shine,” he said. “A restaurant’s sous chef is a rising star and usually an unknown talent. The Hush events showcase their creativity and dedicated pursuit of a career.”Funk joined the Avondale kitchen in June 2010. A graduate of Johnson & Wales, Denver, Funk most recently served as club chef at the Aspen Mountain Club, the Little Nell Hotel’s private membership club atop the ski resort. His background includes Chaps Grill and Chophouse in the Vail Cascade Resort, the Broadmoor Hotel and Ameristar Casinos. The Hush dinner at the Eagle County jet center is set for Aug.19 at 6 p.m. The dinner includes passed appetizers, a five-course plated dinner and wine pairings. The price per person is $100 and includes tax and gratuity. To make reservations, visit http://www.hushdenver.com/reservations.
