First snow of the season: Eagle County traffic alerts, I-70 closures and more

Editor’s note: This story will be updated throughout the day with traffic alerts, as snow is expected into the early afternoon. Officials ask drivers to be safe, slow down and move over for emergency vehicles.

  • At 9:40 a.m., a road incident blocked the right lane of Interstate 70 near mile marker 153 near Red Canyon. The lane reopened around 9:50 a.m.
  • At 9:15 a.m., the left lane of Interstate 70 closed in both directions at mile marker 153 near Red Canyon. It reopened around 9:35 a.m.
  • The right lane of Interstate 70 eastbound closed near mile marker 159 at 8:45 a.m. and reopened around 9:15 a.m. As a result, traffic was diverted to U.S. Highway 6, which is moving slow. Officials are asking drivers to be safe and slow down and move over for emergency vehicles.
  • U.S. Highway 131 closed northbound around 8:25 a.m. near the Eagle County Dump entrance due to a road incident. It reopened around 9:15 a.m. Expect delays in the area.
