I-70 closed in Glenwood Canyon after fatality in traffic incident
UPDATE (9:51 p.m.): The road is now open. Please drive safely.
Interstate 70 is now closed going both directions in Glenwood Canyon due to a traffic incident involving a fatality a half mile east of the main Glenwood Springs exit, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Westbound traffic is being held at mile mark 133 (Dotsero) and eastbound traffic is being held at Exit 116 in Glenwood Springs. Emergency responders are on the scene.
The interstate closure is expected to two hours or longer, according to post on CDOT’s Facebook page.
“This incident involved a fatality, so law enforcement is conducting an investigation,” according to the 8:20 p.m. post. “Crews are working to clear the queue of traffic stuck in the canyon. We will provide updates here as we get information on opening.”
The valley’s commercial and residential property markets are similar in some ways — availability is tight and nothing is what you’d call “cheap.”
