VAIL, Colorado – The eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 are closed from Avon to the top of Vail Pass Friday afternoon.

Multiple crashes have blocked the eastbound lanes of Dowd Junction Friday afternoon. A short time later, authorities closed the entire stretch of freeway from mile marker 167 in Avon to the top of Vail Pass.

The westbound lanes of I-70 from Copper Mountain to Vail Pass are closed.



Authorities did not say when the road would re-open. The forecast is for snow to continue through tonight.
