Spot fires put out in Gypsum, I-70 reopens

Fire crews have responded to several small fires along Interstate 70 between Gypsum and Dotsero over the past few weeks. Dragging chains are the suspected cause of those fires.

UPDATE (10:30 a.m.): Two small fires have been put out along I-70 in Gypsum, and the roadway should open shortly, according to officials.

Interstate 70 closed westbound Sunday morning at milemarker 140 in Gypsum and at milemarker 133 in Dotsero due to a wildland fire, according to an EC Alert sent at approximately 9:21 a.m.
