I scream, you scream
Vail, CO, Colorado
I scream, you scream, we ALL scream for our favorite summertime treat … ice cream. Fortunately, the Vail Symposium has your craving covered. Learn about the art of homemade ice cream on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. from Shawn Smith and Patrick Russo, owners of Mountain Flour in Eagle.
This program will include a tour the facility, an ice cream making demonstration and samples of the fresh, tasty creations. The ice cream social is a Slow Food Vail Valley program. Slow Food is dedicated to stewardship of the land and ecologically sound food production; as well as the revival of the kitchen and the table as centers of pleasure, culture and community.
After graduating from Kendall College School of Culinary Arts, Shawn Smith trained and studied at Chicago’s finest restaurants and hotels. Upon his arrival in Vail in 1997, Shawn became the Head Pastry Chef at The Lodge at Vail. In addition to his wedding cake creations, Shawn also bakes many of the desserts you can enjoy at restaurants throughout the Vail Valley and Aspen.
Mountain Flour’s President, Patrick Russo, is a veteran of top-of-the-line restaurants, having worked in various capacities for some of the area’s finest establishments, including Larkspur and Red Sky Ranch’s Silver Sage. A graduate of Colorado State University, Patrick has spent most of his life in this beautiful state, and now lives in Eagle with his wife Stefanie and son Sam.
