VAIL, Colorado – Peter Wasilewski, a scientist and artist, will showoff his Frizion (pronounced ‘frizz-yon’) photos in Vail this weekend. He created Frizon, or ”frozen vision,’ while studying ice in order to learn more about its structure, climate implications, and weather record capture.

He evolved an art form by capturing ice compositions with photographs of ice crystals using a set of polarizing filters. His work is on display at Cogswell Gallery in Vail this weekend, in conjunction with the new Triumph Winterfest exhibit, titled “Are you listening …”, located on Gore Creek Promenade.

Local ice sculptor Scott Rella printed some of Wasilewski’s Frizions onto clear acetate and then froze them into perfectly clear blocks of ice. Those sculptures will also be on display in front of Cogswell Gallery.
