Ice-sculpture exhibit returns to Vail

VAIL – The third annual Triumph Winterfest exhibition opening celebration is Jan. 15 in Vail, Colorado.

The exhibition, entitled, “are you listening…,” will be composed of approximately seven ice sculptures along the Gore Creek Promenade in Vail Village. The sculpture will represent the human ear.

The display, by artist Lawrence Argent, of Denver, and ice sculptor Scott Rella, of the Vail Valley, is free and open to the public. At night, the sculpture will be illuminated by energy efficient lights.

Argent says the display will ask “What do we listen to? What or who is creating the sounds we listen to? When we do, how is it filtered through our systems of consciousness and knowledge?”

Installation by Rella’s team begins the week of Jan. 11 and the public is invited to observe.
