Ice skating events, a Matzah Ball Party and more in Vail

Hanukkah happenings

The Chabad Jewish Center will be hosting Chanukah on Ice at the Dobson Ice Arena from 4:30 to 7 p.m. today.

Enjoy a kosher dinner, Latkes, dreidels, donuts and gelt. What could be more delightful than a combination of sparkling ice and a sparkling ice menorah, asked Rabbi Dovid Mintz.

“We want to bring the spirit of the Chanukah holiday” said Mintz, the director of Chabad Jewish Center of Vail, and coordinator of Chanukah On Ice. “These are outstanding moments that they won’t soon forget.”

The celebration continues wtih Vail’s annual Matzah Ball Party at the Tap Room in Vail Village at 9 p.m.

Participate in The Longevity Project

The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.

“Come schoomze and say l’chaim at the party of the year, uniting the Jewish community,” Mintz said.

There is no cover charge and all are welcome.

A Grand Ice Menorah Lighting in Lionshead Village will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 27. For more information on any of these events, call 970-476-7887.

The Vail Recreation District and Skate Club of Vail will present an ice skating extravaganza at 6:15 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Superheroes on Ice will feature local skating students along with nationally ranked amateurs and pay tribute to classic superheroes, including Superman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers and Spider-Man, to name a few.
